  • County Councillors

Rachel graduated from Cambridge University and has worked as an English and international lawyer for many years. She has lived in Suffolk for 25 years, and she and her husband have brought up their four children in Suffolk. With her husband and son, she is a director of a company in Newmarket. She is very committed to Suffolk and its residents, and was elected to Suffolk County Council in 2017.

She is passionate about education and has been a member of the SCC Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Policy Development Panel, whose forward-thinking report has resulted in immediate action. This includes the remarkable new SEND unit at Exning Primary School (opening in September 2021) with other new and reinvigorated SEND facilities in Newmarket.

As a Suffolk County and West Suffolk Councillor, Rachel has supported the SCC Climate Emergency Declaration and the movement to make Suffolk the Greenest County. Her work has included Chairing the West Suffolk Council Environment & Climate Change Task Force which reported successfully to WSC in 2020.

In her Suffolk County Council role, Rachel has also worked collaboratively with fellow Conservative Councillors to fund and facilitate the installation of a Pelican Crossing at Laureate School on the Exning Road in Newmarket.
