I was born in Sudbury and still live there with my wife.
I have been the Suffolk County Councillor for the Sudbury East and Waldingfield (Acton, Chilton, Great and Little Waldingfield) Division since May 2005. I’m now into my 14th year of service to the town and immediate area.
I previously represented the Waldingfield Ward on Babergh District Council from 1976 to 2011.
My long service in local government has seen me work in a number of key positions. At the County Council, I served as Cabinet Member for Fire and Rescue and Public Protection, before serving as Chairman of the County Council from 2016-17.
Over my more than 42 years of service I have, in addition to representing the residents of my Division, taken a special interest in policing, fire and rescue, trading standards, community safety, health, and the role of the voluntary and community services sector.
I work very hard to represent and help all constituents within my Division who seek my support and advice on issues that affect the area. I am also very supportive of the work performed by the local voluntary and community services sector and acknowledge the work they do and the support they offer to so many people.
