Graham is standing for election because he wants to serve the local area that he has worked and lived in for most of his life. He has been a Beccles Town Councillor since 2008 and was honoured to be appointed as Mayor in 2012 & 2017.
Graham was a Waveney District Councillor for eight years and a Cabinet member for four years with responsibility for Operational Partnerships. He is a printer by trade and manufacturing manager at William Clowes Ltd. for many years.
Active in the community, he is Chairman of Beccles Indoor Bowls Club; a Director of the Waveney & Yare Housing Association (non-profit making); and a past Chairman of the Waveney Centre.
Graham considers one of the most important things following this Covid emergency is economic recovery. He says “We have to get our economy moving again, starting with small businesses that provide local jobs. Youth unemployment is going to be a major issue and we have to do all we can to deal with that. We have to keep our town centres as open as possible and bring back the heartbeat and vibrancy that we used to have”.
He wants the three Parish Councils and Town Council within the division to co-operate more, but at the same time keep their independence and unique identities.
