Better Broadband for Suffolk

Over the past few months, much progress has been made with the Better Broadband Programme. Having completed the first contract ahead of target, significantly under budget, and reaching more premises than planned, focus is being placed on repeating that feat for the second contract.

Conservative Suffolk County Council invest an additional £10million in road surfacing

The Conservative Administration at Suffolk County Council is allocating £10million of additional investment from its reserves into 2016’s programme of road surface dressing during the spring and summer months before September. This preventative maintenance work will help avoid potholes forming in future years on the roads that are treated by delivering approximately three million square metres of new surfacing; particularly focusing on rural roads across the county. 

Councillor Jane Storey appointed Cabinet Member for Broadband and Rural Affairs

Suffolk County Council Conservative Administration welcomes its newest member of the Cabinet; Jane Storey.  For the past year, Jane has done an outstanding job representing the Council as Chairman and has attended over 100 external events. Jane will be taking on the role of Cabinet Member for Broadband and Rural Affairs when she steps down from her current role at the annual meeting of the Council in May.

Suffolk Libraries bucking the national trend

Conservative led Suffolk County Council is proud to be bucking the national trend as, despite having to make challenging savings, no libraries have closed in Suffolk.

Suffolk County Election Results

Suffolk Conservatives won a massive majority and now hold 52 out of the 75 seats on the County Council.  There are of course many reasons this has happened not least the hard work we have undertaken running the Council for the past 12 years, not to mention the position of the Conservative Party nationally as Prime Minister Theresa May seeks a mandate to send a strong message to Brussels that Brexit means Brexit and we will not be pushed about.
